In the United States, heart disease is the number one cause of death, and stroke is number three. Henry's Heartlings are the family, friends and supporters of Henry Schmitt who donate to the American Heart Association via the annual Pittsburgh Heart Walk. Pictured above is the Henry's Heartlings 2009 Walking Team.

If you would like to support us in raising money to help fight heart disease and stroke, please visit our donation page. To find out more about our walkers and why they walk, visit the Walking Team page. A number of companies support Henry's Heartlings with either monetary or in-kind donations. They can be found on our sponsors page; information about becoming a sponsor can be found there as well.

2010 Pittsburgh Heart Walk Scheduled for Sept. 18

After much waiting, the 2010 Heart Walk is finally scheduled! This year's date is earlier and hopefully warmer. We've got a lot of work to do in the next four months if we want to reach our goal and become the #1 Community Team in Pittsburgh. The AHA is working on getting more organizations involved, so the competition will be fierce. We need your help!

Pittsburgh CAPA 6-12 Raises Almost $500 for Henry's Heartlings

The Vocal Majors at Pittsburgh Public Schools Creative and Performing Arts School won the National Junior Honor Society's fundraiser for Henry's Heartlings. However, since Stagecraft and Creative Writing were both within $3 of the Vocal students, the CAPA PTSA decided to throw a pizza party for all three majors.

Altogether, the 6-8 graders raised $460.25 for the American Heart Association. The pizza party was held on Feb. 5, 2010, which was also to be National Wear Red Day. Despite a snow storm which was the start of the snowiest month ever in Pittsburgh, the kids had a great time. Thanx CAPA!

Henry's Heartlings Wins Four Awards

Top Walker: Henry Schmitt Top Walker: Karen Kern Star Walker: Kath Schmitt Top Team: Henry's Heartlings

We want to say a big Thank You to everyone who supported us in the 2009 Pittsburgh Heart Walk. Thanks to you, this was our best year ever.

Almost the entire Team made it to the Award Ceremony at Le Mont on Mount Washington this year. We came away with four awards.

Henry and Karen received Top Walker Awards for raising over $1000 each. A Star Walker Award went to Kath for raising $500. The big surprise for the evening was Henry's Heartlings receiving a Top Friends & Family Team Award as the Number Two non-corporate fundraising team in Pittsburgh. We're aiming for Number One in 2010!

THANK YOU!
